Progressed from Assistant Editor to Managing Editor and then Senior Editor for Home Energy Magazine, covering sustainable home building and renovation for a professional audience of contractors, weatherization professionals, and utility efficiency program managers. Wrote and edited feature articles and blog posts.​

Enrolled in the Building Performance Institute's Building Performance Hall of Fame for writing and editing about green home building and renovation;

and is the Editor of No Regrets Remodeling, Second Edition.

Mar 2005 to Apr 2010

PBS San Francisco Bay Area Station KQED

Blogged regularly about energy and the environment for the KQED Quest program, a KQED Science and KQED Education project that offers engaging, relevant science and engineering resources for educators, students, and lifelong learners. 

 

Story about an Alaskan Native American village destroyed by global climate change was featured by the Knight Science Foundation program.

June 1999–Current 

Freelance Writer

Published two chapbooks of poetry, What the Body Wants and Flamenco at the Thirsty Bear, and a poem collection, Remember. Published in America Magazine, Bark.com, and others, including poetry and nonfiction anthologies.

 

Active member of the Community of Writers and Diablo Writers Workshop.
